Lion users, you might wanna read this…
Last night I was deleting some old apps from my applications folder with AppZapper and all of the sudden my Finder icon starting bouncing with a popup that asked me to restore windows or don’t restore windows because Finder had unexpectedly quit. I clicked don’t restore, restore, restarted my Mac and no matter what could not get Lion to stop crash looping Finder and the icon from bouncing. My Finder window as completely useless. Was it frustrating? UNBELIEVABLY! So after searching on Apple’s support site and online like a miner looking for gold to find a resolution for this I came across a post that was from 2009 that helped me fix the problem. I had to use Terminal to force empty the trash. I would HIGHLY suggest you bookmark it, Instapaper it or whatever you use because you might find yourself in this situation. The problem basically stems from Lion not being able to completely empty the trash when deleting older apps from your Mac. When it can’t empty the trash it basically quits Finder and so because it can’t keep emptying the trash it keeps crashing. Although the only “OK” thing with it was I was using David Lanham’s Super Mario icon as my Finder icon so it looked like he was jumping. Aside from that I was STRESSING OUT!
